Get Ready for Yahoo! Hack USA

The Yahoo Developer Network is very excited to host Yahoo! Hack USA, hosted at our main campus in Sunnyvale, CA. The Sunnyvale campus has been home to Yahoo for more then 12 years and was the site for our first ever external Hack back in 2006. 

This hack will be our 3rd hosted in Sunnyvale, 4th in the US, and 22nd worldwide.

Yahoo will provide you with all you need to have fun, be creative and productive, and impress your peers with what you can do with a code and the wealth of technologies and data available on the Web.

We will be fueling your creativity with a variety of Yahoo technologies and APIs, including Pure CSS, YQL, Hadoop, Flickr, BOSS, and more. We also have some fantastic speakers from Appcelerator, Numenta, Mozilla to name a few. 

We will introduce you to lots of wonderful data sets that are ripe for mashup and visualization. We will keep you fed, watered and entertained for the duration of the event. All you need to bring is your creativity, your laptop, and your toothbrush.

What is Yahoo Hack USA?
Firstly, what is hacking? For newbies to hacking please watch this great intro video called Hacking 101 by Chris Heilmann, or check out Ricky Montalvo's Hackumentary.

Our event will begin with a series of hack-related presentations from respected developers. We’ll then dive into 24 hours of hacking using a great collection of web tools, services and APIs from the Yahoo Developer Network, and other APIs and data from around the web. We will end the event on Sunday with hack demos and awards.

Everything you need to know about our open technology you can find on The Yahoo Developer Network at developer.yahoo.com , which also includes links to our latest open platforms.

Use our Yahoo API Cheat Sheet will help you jumpstart integrating Y! technologies into your hack. 

The Yahoo Tech Team will also be present throughout to help answer questions about using our technologies.

The event will be held on the weekend of the September 28-29 at our Sunnyvale Campus.

Parking will be available. Please follow the signs once you get to the campus. 

Doors will open at 8:00am PT Saturday, with Tech Talks beginning at 9:30am. The Official Hacking Period kicks off at 1:30pm, lasting until 1:30pm Sunday, September 29th. Lunch will be served when hacking ends, followed by demos, judging and awards. Everything will wrap up around 5:30pm on Sunday.
